📈 India’s Wholesale Price Index (WPI) – March 2025 Update
India’s annual inflation rate based on the Wholesale Price Index (WPI) stood at 2.05% in March 2025, primarily driven by price increases in food products, electricity, and textiles. Compared to February 2025, the WPI saw a month-on-month decrease of 0.19%.
🕊️ International Buddhist Conclave in Arunachal Pradesh
The International Buddhist Confederation (IBC), in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, will host a two-day conclave titled “Buddha Dhamma and the Culture of North-East India” on April 21–22, 2025, in Namsai, Arunachal Pradesh. 🌧️ 2025 Southwest Monsoon Forecast: Above Normal Rainfall Expected
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts the 2025 southwest monsoon (June–September) to be above normal, with rainfall likely at 105% of the Long Period Average (LPA) of 87 cm, within a ±5% margin. Neutral ENSO and Indian Ocean Dipole conditions are anticipated to persist, while below-normal Eurasian snow cover may enhance monsoon strength.
🚨 Major Drug Bust at IGI Airport
The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) seized 7.56 kg of cocaine, valued at approximately ₹75.6 crore, from an Indian passenger arriving from Dubai at Delhi’s IGI Airport. The narcotics were concealed within five handbags and discovered during a detailed baggage inspection. The individual has been arrested under the NDPS Act, and further investigations are underway.
🎓 AIIMS Rishikesh Holds 5th Convocation Ceremony
Union Health Minister Shri JP Nadda presided over AIIMS Rishikesh’s 5th convocation, awarding degrees to 434 students and inaugurating new healthcare facilities, including a PET scan machine and a Centre for Advanced Pediatrics. 🕋 India Prioritizes Haj Pilgrimage for Muslims
The Government of India has increased its Haj quota from 136,020 in 2014 to 175,025 in 2025, reflecting its commitment to facilitating the pilgrimage for Indian Muslims. Despite delays by Combined Haj Group Operators (CHGOs) in finalizing arrangements, the Saudi Haj Ministry reopened the Nusuk Portal to accommodate 10,000 pilgrims, following India’s intervention.
IREDA Achieves Record ₹1,699 Crore PAT in FY 2024-25 📈🌱
The Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency (IREDA) reported its highest-ever Profit After Tax of ₹1,699 crore for FY 2024-25, marking a 36% increase from the previous year. Notably, IREDA became the first PSU and NBFC in India to publish audited financial results within just 15 days, underscoring its commitment to transparency and efficiency.
📝 CPGRAMS March 2025 Report: Grievance Redressal Update
The Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG) reported that in March 2025, States and UTs received 59,271 public grievances and resolved 59,523 cases, yet 1,90,976 grievances remain pending. Uttar Pradesh led in both new user registrations (7,602) and grievance submissions (22,369), with significant contributions from Common Service Centres.

📊 March 2025 CPGRAMS Report Highlights
The Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG) reported that over 1.21 lakh public grievances were resolved in March 2025, maintaining a streak of 33 months with over 1 lakh cases addressed monthly. Top performers in grievance redressal included the Department of Telecommunications, Department of Posts, and Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs in Group A, and the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, Ministry of Tribal Affairs, and Department of Heavy Industry in Group B. The average grievance disposal time was 16 days, with 49,912 new users registering on the CPGRAMS portal during the month. Additionally, 7,150 grievances were registered through Common Service Centres, enhancing accessibility for citizens.

At the OALP Round-IX & Special DSF Signing Ceremony, Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri announced the awarding of 28 exploration blocks, marking a significant step in India’s energy self-reliance efforts. Bengaluru-based startup QpiAI, under India’s National Quantum Mission, has launched ‘QpiAI-Indus’, a 25-qubit superconducting quantum computer—the nation’s first full-stack quantum system. This milestone aims to accelerate advancements in fields like life sciences, logistics, and sustainability.
📈 Record Cargo Movement on National Waterways in FY 2024-25
India’s Inland Waterways Authority achieved an all-time high cargo movement of 145.5 million tonnes in FY 2024-25, reflecting a 9.34% year-on-year growth. Key initiatives like the Jalvahak scheme and digital NOC portals have bolstered this growth, with coal, iron ore, sand, and fly ash making up over 68% of the cargo.
📊 March 2025 CPI & Food Inflation Update
India’s year-on-year Consumer Price Index (CPI) inflation for March 2025 stands at 3.34%, marking the lowest rate since August 2019. Food inflation has significantly decreased to 2.69%, primarily due to reduced prices in vegetables, eggs, pulses, meat, cereals, and milk products.

Union Minister of State for Women and Child Development, Smt. Savitri Thakur, conducted key meetings in Shillong to assess the implementation of central schemes like Poshan Abhiyan, Mission Shakti, and Mission Vatsalya. Emphasis was placed on enhancing Anganwadi infrastructure, ensuring quality nutrition, and leveraging technology for effective monitoring. 🔧 NITI Aayog Unveils $25B Export Vision for Hand & Power Tools
NITI Aayog has released a strategic report aiming to boost India’s hand and power tools exports to $25 billion by 2035, potentially creating 35 lakh jobs. Key recommendations include developing advanced manufacturing clusters and implementing market reforms to overcome a 14–17% cost disadvantage compared to global competitors.

India’s automotive industry contributes 7.1% to the nation’s GDP and ranks 4th globally in vehicle production. Despite this, it holds only a 3% share in the global auto component trade, indicating significant growth potential. Government initiatives like FAME, PM E-Drive, and PLI, with over ₹66,000 crore in support, aim to boost EV adoption and local manufacturing. The Vision 2030 roadmap aspires to scale production to $145 billion, exports to $60 billion, and create 2–2.5 million jobs.
🛫 CCI Approves Stake Acquisition in Akasa Air
The Competition Commission of India has approved the acquisition of a stake in SNV Aviation Pvt. Ltd. (Akasa Air) by PI Opportunities Fund-I Scheme-II (PIOF), certain executives of PIOF, Claypond Capital Partners, and 360 ONE Private Equity Fund through various schemes and affiliates. This move aims to bolster Akasa Air’s growth in domestic and international aviation markets.
🏥 CCI Approves Aster DM Healthcare & QCIL Merger
The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has approved the merger of Quality Care India Limited (QCIL) into Aster DM Healthcare, which will be renamed Aster DM Quality Care Limited. Prior to the merger, Aster will acquire a 5% stake in QCIL from BCP Asia and Centella through a primary share issuance. Post-merger, existing QCIL shareholders, including Centella and BCP, will retain minority stakes without control rights.
🏥 CCI Approves Major Healthcare Investment Deal
The Competition Commission of India has approved a significant healthcare sector combination involving Waverly Pte. Ltd., TPG Growth funds, Asia Healthcare Holdings, Rhea Healthcare, and the Asian Institute of Nephrology and Urology (AINU). This deal includes share acquisitions and restructuring aimed at enhancing specialized healthcare services in India.
🇮🇳 CCI Approves Alat Technologies’ Stake in TKE Group & Joint Venture
The Competition Commission of India has approved Alat Technologies’ acquisition of approximately 15% stake in TKE Group via Vertical Topco and the formation of a joint venture focused on elevators and escalators in Saudi Arabia and the MENA region. Alat Technologies is a subsidiary of Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, while TKE Group operates globally in vertical transportation solutions.
