Union Agriculture Minister’s Brazil Visit Strengthens Indo-Brazil Agricultural Cooperation

Union Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan Ji’s recent visit to Brazil marked significant strides in enhancing agricultural collaboration between India and Brazil. Leading the Indian delegation at the 15th BRICS Agriculture Ministers’ Meeting in Brasília, he emphasized promoting soya production and exports in India, aiming to empower Indian farmers with global technologies.​

Highlighting the importance of small farmers, Shri Chouhan Ji advocated for inclusive and sustainable agriculture, aligning with India’s commitment to “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam.” He called for enhanced cooperation in agricultural technology, innovation, capacity building, and trade facilitation among BRICS nations.​

During bilateral meetings with Brazilian counterparts, discussions centered on sharing knowledge in climate-friendly soybean varieties, mechanization, precision farming, and sustainable practices. The visit also explored joint efforts in biofuel, bioenergy, supply chain integration, and agricultural machinery, aiming to provide Indian farmers access to global technologies.​

Shri Chouhan Ji’s engagements with Brazil’s agribusiness community and visits to soybean production plants and farms underscored the potential for collaborative ventures in agricultural trade, technology, and innovation, promising direct benefits to Indian farmers and contributing to global food security.​

Indian Air Force Joins Multinational Exercise Desert Flag-10 in UAE

The Indian Air Force (IAF) has deployed a contingent to Al Dhafra Air Base in the United Arab Emirates to participate in Exercise Desert Flag-10, a premier multinational air combat exercise hosted by the UAE Air Force. The IAF is fielding MiG-29 and Jaguar aircraft in the exercise, which is scheduled to take place from 21 April to 08 May 2025.​

Exercise Desert Flag brings together air forces from Australia, Bahrain, France, Germany, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Republic of Korea, Turkey, United Kingdom, United States, and the host nation UAE, alongside India. The exercise aims to undertake complex and diverse fighter engagements, facilitating the exchange of operational knowledge and best practices among some of the world’s most capable air forces. Participation in such exercises enhances mutual understanding, interoperability, and strengthens military cooperation among the participating nations.​

The IAF’s involvement underscores India’s commitment to strengthening defence ties and interoperability with friendly nations in the region and beyond.


Final Call: Media Delegate Registration for WAVES 2025 Reopens for Three Days

The Ministry of Information & Broadcasting has reopened media delegate registration for the World Audio Visual & Entertainment Summit (WAVES) 2025 for a final three-day window from April 21 to 23, 2025. This opportunity is extended to journalists, photographers, freelance media professionals, and digital content creators who missed the earlier deadline. Applicants must submit a government-issued ID, passport-size photograph, proof of media affiliation, ten work samples, and a visa for international participants. Historic Milestone: Record 41% Women in 2023 IAS Batch

In a landmark development, Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh Ji lauded the unprecedented representation of women in the 2023 Indian Administrative Service (IAS) batch, with 74 women officers constituting 41% of the 180-member cohort. This marks the highest female participation in IAS history. The announcement was made during his interaction with the officer trainees as part of the Assistant Secretary Programme, which provides them with an eight-week attachment to 46 central ministries for hands-on governance experience.​

Dr. Singh attributed this achievement to Honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji’s emphasis on women-led initiatives and inclusive governance. He highlighted the batch’s diversity, noting that 99 officers have engineering backgrounds, with others from medicine and technical fields, reflecting the evolving nature of civil services. The Minister also underscored the importance of technological proficiency, urging officers to leverage platforms like iGOT Karmayogi for continuous learning, and emphasized the need for empathy in public service.


PM Modi to Address Civil Servants on 17th Civil Services Day

Honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji will address the nation’s civil servants on April 21, 2025, during the 17th Civil Services Day celebrations at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. The event honors the pivotal role of civil servants in nation-building and commemorates Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s 1947 address to administrative officers.​

PM Modi will confer the Prime Minister’s Awards for Excellence in Public Administration, recognizing outstanding implementation of priority programs and innovations. Fourteen awardees have been selected from 1,588 nominations, focusing on:​

  • Holistic Development of Districts
  • Aspirational Blocks Programme
  • Innovation

Each award includes a trophy, scroll, and ₹20 lakh for project implementation. The ceremony will feature the release of e-books on holistic development and innovations, along with a film showcasing award-winning initiatives.​

A plenary session on “Civil Services Reforms—Challenges and Opportunities,” chaired by Cabinet Secretary Dr. T.V. Somanathan, will follow. Four thematic sessions will address urban transportation, healthcare through Ayushman Bharat, nutrition via Poshan 2.0, and the Aspirational Blocks Programme, led by senior Union Ministers and NITI Aayog’s CEO.

Senior officials from central and state governments will participate in the day-long event.​
