🤝 Strengthening India-Saudi Arabia Relations

In an interview with Arab News, Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the deepening ties between India and Saudi Arabia, referring to the kingdom as a “trusted friend and strategic ally.” He highlighted the significant expansion of bilateral relations since the establishment of the Strategic Partnership Council in 2019.

✈️ India’s Aviation Revolution Takes Flight

India’s aviation sector is undergoing a transformative phase with the enactment of the Bharatiya Vayuyan Adhiniyam 2024, replacing the colonial-era Aircraft Act of 1934, and the Protection of Interest in Aircraft Objects Bill, 2025, aligning leasing laws with global standards. The UDAN scheme has successfully operationalized 619 routes and 88 airports, with plans to expand to 120 additional destinations, while domestic air passenger traffic reached a historic milestone, surpassing 5 lakh passengers in a single day in 2024. Infrastructure expansion continues with the development of new terminals and Greenfield airports, positioning India as the third-largest aviation market globally.​


🚆⚓ Ministry of Coal Advocates for Sustainable Coal Transport via RSR Mode

On April 22, 2025, the Ministry of Coal organized a stakeholder consultation in New Delhi to explore sustainable coal transportation through the Rail-Sea-Rail (RSR) mode. This initiative aims to enhance logistical efficiency, ensure energy security, and promote environmental sustainability by integrating rail and coastal shipping. The ministry targets transporting 65 million tonnes of coal via RSR by FY 2026, scaling up to 120 million tonnes by FY 2030.


🏡 QCI Celebrates Panchayati Raj Diwas for Empowering Villages 🇮🇳

🧑‍🌾 Relief for Tobacco Farmers: 3-Year Validity for Registrations and Licenses 📜

The Indian government has extended the validity of Virginia tobacco grower registrations and barn operation licenses from 1 year to 3 years, reducing administrative burdens for approximately 83,500 farmers across Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Telangana, and Odisha. This amendment to the Tobacco Board Rules, 1976, will take effect from the 2025–26 crop season.


🏆 Bharat Startup Grand Challenge 2025 Winner Announced

The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), in collaboration with Startup India and Stride Ventures, has declared Buoyancy Plastics for Change Recycling Private Limited as the winner of the Bharat Startup Grand Challenge 2025. The startup, founded in 2015, focuses on creating a Fair Trade-verified recycled plastics supply chain and has a collection capacity exceeding 20,000 tons. Stride Ventures will invest up to ₹10 crore, subject to due diligence, to support the startup’s expansion in India’s recycling sector.


📶 TRAI Workshop on Digital Connectivity Ratings

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) hosted a workshop on April 22, 2025, focusing on the “Regulation on Rating of Properties for Digital Connectivity.” Over 125 senior officials from various States and Union Territories participated, discussing the integration of Digital Connectivity Infrastructure (DCI) into building codes and the introduction of digital connectivity ratings for properties. This initiative aims to enhance in-building digital connectivity, providing consumers with standardized information to make informed decisions when purchasing or leasing properties.​


TRAI Releases Recommendations on Critical Services in the M2M Sector and Transfer of Ownership of M2M SIMs

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has issued recommendations addressing two key aspects in the Machine-to-Machine (M2M) sector:​

  • Identification of Critical Services: TRAI has proposed a framework to classify certain M2M services as critical, necessitating enhanced regulatory oversight to ensure reliability and security.​
  • Transfer of Ownership of M2M SIMs: The recommendations include guidelines to facilitate the seamless transfer of M2M SIM cards between users, aiming to improve service portability and user convenience.​

These recommendations are part of TRAI’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the M2M ecosystem and align it with global best practices. ​


India Nominates Candidate for Director of ITU Radiocommunication Bureau

India has nominated Ms. M. Revathi, Joint Wireless Advisor at the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), as its candidate for the position of Director at the International Telecommunication Union’s (ITU) Radiocommunication Bureau. This nomination represents India’s most significant bid in decades to influence global radio spectrum governance and underscores the country’s commitment to playing a leading role in international telecommunications policy.


Bureau of Indian Standards Announces 500 Internships for Students from MoU Partner Institutions

The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has announced 500 internships for students from institutions with Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with BIS. These internships aim to promote awareness of standardization and provide practical engagement in industries. The 8-week program will involve pre-standardization work in two key industries, Quality Control Order (QCO) compliance surveys in collaboration with BIS offices, and site visits to large-scale units, MSMEs, and laboratories. The internships are open to students enrolled in 4-year degree courses, 5-year integrated degree courses, postgraduate degrees, and diploma programs. ​


38th Meeting of the Central Advisory Board of Archaeology (CABA) to Be Held on April 23 at Bharat Mandapam

The Archaeological Survey of India will host the 38th meeting of the Central Advisory Board of Archaeology (CABA) on April 23 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. Over 5,000 Runners Take Part in Maiden Soldierathon at Army Hospital (R&R) in a Fitting Tribute to Brave Soldiers

Over 5,000 runners participated in the inaugural Soldierathon at Army Hospital (R&R), Delhi, held on April 13. The event featured three race categories: 10 km timed run, 5 km fun run, and a 3 km walk, designed to encourage mass participation and inclusivity. Runners shared the track with Indian soldiers, drawing inspiration from their discipline, determination, and spirit of service. The Soldierathon aimed to honor the bravery and sacrifices of Indian soldiers.


India Hosts Inaugural Capacity Building Programme for Central Asian Republics on Combating Terrorism Financing

India organized its first Capacity Building Programme for Central Asian Republics (CARs) on 21–22 April 2025. The event focused on countering terrorism financing through cryptocurrencies, crowdfunding, and non-profit organizations.
